Note on Cartwheel (klc34@humboldt.edu) - (12/11/09)Thanks for sharing this. I was online looking for info on Lindy Hop Aerials and I found your website. Its interesting how one can learn so much from examining the body mechanics in a basic cartwheel.
You\'re right, its one thing to do a cartwheel, but its another to do it right - so it flows and looks good.
Again, thanks so much. I think this tutorial is very helpful for getting me more aware of my body so that I can eventually do Lindy flips and tricks.
Note on Aerial (blackdragon37@live.co.uk) - (12/7/09)While doing the aerial, look forward at all times. This keeps your chin up, preventing your body from rapidly decreasing its airtime after you\'ve jumped. Wherever the head goes, the body follows.
To help you visualise this, put yourself of someone who\'s completed the aerial for... maybe the first time.
So first off: visualise a target in front of you. While doing the steps illustrated in this guide, you\'re going to look at this target throughout.
So:
1. While you\'re moving forward, look at your target.
2. While dipping, look at your target.
3. While doing the takeoff, look at your target. By this time, your vision of your target will either be sideways or upside down depending on how hard you throw your legs and your flexibility.
4. While pulling around, look at your target. By this time, your vision of the target will be upside down.
5. While you\'re landing, you could probably start to see your feet. THIS is the time to either look down or backwards (opposite direction of your target).
